Global -- Elizabeth Fox News senior political analyst and Ed Rollins.

Is a senior Republican strategist and fox -- good news contributor welcome to you both he Brit I wanna start with you.

How do you grade -- last night I think he could have been sharp curve but.

You know he's still leads in the -- Well aliens and we have seen -- polls that I know since the debate one -- he's still leading Armenian the latest.

I guess -- the latest polls -- him up fourteen so we probably lose all of that but I agree with you Jerry I don't think it was a particularly strong performance -- -- Romulus and it was okay.

But it looked it seems to me that he still needs to be able to mount a much more effective defense of his role at Bain Capital he needs to -- he needs to be able to make the case to the public.

That Bain Capital is not just -- didn't just to engage in legal.

Private enterprise but was good for the country good for.

The economy good for jobs and nights I suspect there's a case be made but I don't think he's made it yet any -- -- didn't make it last night.

Well he called that they -- documentary put out about a 28 minute -- I -- you call it mad.

-- the biggest hoax since bigfoot.

That was certainly -- -- course we don't have new polls today but -- didn't say something today that's catching a lot of attention here's Mitt Romney.

It's effective -- -- impact on -- probably closer to the 15% rate that I think just might the last ten years I've.

My income comes overwhelmingly from from investments made in the past rather than ordinary and comer.

-- -- -- -- earned annual income I think they got a little bit income from my book but I -- that'll away.

And and I get speaker's fees and time to time but not very much.

Pelosi speaker fees apparently -- or something like 300000 dollars -- change show it in -- happened to most of us.

But I would ask you about Mitt Romney is he's somebody that Americans feel can relate to their situation in the economy what's going on with them.

-- -- you know you can't.

You precise in a very successful businessman he's had a great career.

At the end of the date as rank ordering people and I think there's been a lot of -- -- a lot of this problem of course this campaign I didn't get a kick the midnight and I think one of the real after effects of it.

Is he made some statements and now have the NRA all worked up they and they gonna call today.

Which he said all the gun -- set down with him when his son in laws and -- -- -- -- and they absent -- up in arms and that's not the group one of the groups that you don't want up arms South Carolina while just.

-- wheels within wheels.

A -- you say they gain which was probably the big winner last night what did he do right.

Well he he got the biggest applause lines and you know you had that question from our colleague Juan Williams.

You know that that where he shot back on on the issue of of -- of you know on that stamp president in a flu whether it was the food stamp president in one.

They'll put that question to him in Gingrich kind of -- -- out apart as far as his audience was concerned.

-- question whether this performance by Newt Gingrich will be enough to propel him very far for because I think he'd been.

His attacks on Romney.

And connect with Bain Capital I think it -- The former speaker and probably -- Rick -- for the same reason.

Well I wanna listen -- that's now because its interest in -- 3000 people in the audience they were not quiet.

Here's wine.

-- Gingrich makes -- up.

A woman ask you why you refer to President Obama as the food stamp president it sounds as if you are seeking to belittle people.

First of all -- The fact is that more people have been put on food stamps by Barack Obama than any president -- American has.

So and what do you say about that I mean is it -- sensitive will play.

-- people like that.

Internal plans South Carolina no offence to want personal friend of mine.

But he Muslim but nevertheless try to cross is for him because -- Republicans aren't in Baghdad and I would take him run along the road for the next three days in punch him every chance I could.

Yeah I agree with -- I'm not sure this is enough to make up the fourteen points.

But here's what will happen people who looks put money into the super -- the billionaires and millionaires.

Are encouraged they're still looking for conservatives the sale is not been made by.

By Romney if for some reason today Iowa caucus -- turned over.

This inevitable he sees nominee may not be the inevitable you know -- -- -- chosen 3% of the delegates.

And not even the 28 dialogue channels until December so there's a long ways to go here.

And my sense is that Gingrich may be encouraged Santorum may be -- I do think -- probably drops -- -- he doesn't do.

Well you know I'm thinking about here is Ron Paul -- at how important is he there's at.

But even -- screaming on our panel today about Ron Paul and and what he is going to be doing -- though in coming weeks and months what do you say.

I say -- Ron Paul is going to be around probably -- the end and will arrive at the convention with a significant block of delegates and he will be somebody that the nominee has to deal with that let me just take issue if I could hear from -- With a little bit what it said -- -- I agree with -- on really on nearly everything out.

I would say that I I I think that the national polls which have been largely irrelevant for some weeks now.

Because -- a series a state by state races are beginning are beginning to make a difference -- to tell you something in the sense of Romney's lead in national polls -- Begin to grow which means.

That a lot of people around the country who might -- to give money to.

Someone -- an alternative to Romney might feel differently when they feel he's going to be the nominee and they see these attacks on him.

And it begins to worry that that their eventual nominee maybe some damaged by this process.

This time the knock it off in time to rally around him and if that bandwagon so to speak -- begins to take hold its gonna make it all the more difficult.

For these challenges to do overtaking and at a course even as they try to get back to Ron Paul he sit -- there you know him.

Taken away some of the votes that they -- need overtaking.

In state after state so he is a big problem for the challengers.

Did that that the problem and and and very nine remote coolest things is is only to be with a real campaign.

And that's Romney who basically talked about -- for.

Looser real -- whatever -- is what he really out of the last four years of big donors and he's put autonomy -- have been -- again here in New York tonight I raise more money -- -- Cologne and a real sense.

Gingrich doesn't have a real campaign Paul has a real campaign Santorum doesn't have a real campaign.

Paul hasn't has as a dedicated.

And and I think to a certain extent he can just basically stay through February.

And trying to rebuild a campaign at that point time conservative -- -- they may be able -- Make this groceries.

Well and it's fascinating to watch and of course that's whether that slugfest is so nasty right now because the stakes are very highlighted these people may not last.

Past South Carolina but we want to come back Britain -- As we go through this process it's a fascinating.

After.
