And thanks for -- there's -- the top of the -- there is a struggle going on in the conservative wing of the Republican Party.
Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana says drop the arguments about social issues and focused on the fiscal problems facing our country jobs taxes debt.
But former governor Mike Huckabee says you cannot separate them the social programs and our nation -- the major drivers of federal spending and debt.
To sort out this argument is the junior senator from South Carolina and the author of now or never saving America from economic collapse senator Jim dement.
-- let's let's start with this issue especially South Carolina ever protect about how important social conservatives are there.
Your focus of your new book is about about the fiscal side of the the issue.
But but what about how to address that hole British business -- Mitch Daniels says we need to focus on.
Fiscal.
Mike Huckabee says need to that you can't get rid of the social getting so expensive you gotta get those into.
That's the connection I do think we need to focus this year on the economy and jobs and help Americans understand how the big government to spending the debt is affecting that.
And we have to remind Americans that a lot of our fiscal issues the money we spend.
Hundreds of billions a year on welfare a lot of the social issues of impact our fiscal issues.
But as far as what's on top up -- top of mind of Americans this year we need to leave with economic issues and that's why.
Now or never really focuses on man.
But did nothing else much is gonna matter if this if this 1516.
Sending trillion dollar debt brings our country down.
The things we've worked for and fought for for years our family's everybody's gonna suffer.
My hope is -- to sound the alarm to Americans and get them involved in this election and let's turn things around before it's too late.
What we do have it's -- -- to watch Ron -- credit almost looks like the Barack Obama crowd from four years ago young.
In Susie yes take not necessarily involved in politics in the past but they are now.
And and -- Issues -- you can't dismiss them at all -- he's come in pretty strong so far -- We have to understand -- Republicans and about half of the country is united around more government.
Today there either dependent on the government they want more government but everything is central control.
It the other half of Americans who are thinking working and paying taxes don't unite.
We're going to lose our country.
That's why the Republican Party needs to be made up of conservatives and libertarians debating how best can we downsize our government can balance our budget.
So we need to welcome Ron Paul the ideas that he's kind of an unaccountable Federal Reserve are spot on.
The importance of individual liberty.
They constitutional limited government -- that needs to be the core platform of the Republican Party.
We can debate foreign policy and other things and I don't agree on all that.
But if we ignore those folks who are supporting Ron Paul Republican Party is not going to be a majority part.
I presume since the primary in your state a week away.
Are you endorsing anybody.
Though no I'm not there's a lot to like about all the candidates my focus is the Senate's conservatives -- because.
Any Republican in the White House is gonna do fine if if the senate and the house send good legislation -- send balanced budgets over to them.
So I'm hoping no -- five or six more conservative Republican senators.
Well then that's a thing a lot of people in a presidential election they focus on the president and the candidates for the presidency.
And they forget about the rest dividend is a lot of people talking about Republicans possibly being able to take control of the senate as we've.
Very well could but I came into the senate with fifty -- Republicans.
And makes a difference.
What kind of Republicans we have we made Republicans who understand the urgency that I write about in Allen never that I mean this literally is.
A country on the edge of -- cliff everything has been handed us our freedom our prosperity.
Is at risk.
And if Americans don't engage in -- the the ones that we elect has Republicans don't really fight to balance our budget.
That I don't know how we're gonna make it more than another year or two before we have some.
Substantial.
Meltdown.
-- title your book and our never saving America from economic collapse and what is that what is that vision that you have of this collapse what what does America look like.
Well first of all we we need to understand that that America was.
Exceptional and prosperous because we worry decentralize not only political government but as well as our economy we -- bottom up.
-- much for -- people make in their own decisions and the state level local level.
And certainly the federal government had a role but.
We've centralize things -- and centralize power corrupts its dysfunctional what that's why we see Washington right now in complete gridlock.
Is that all of the powers come to Washington and you've just -- work that way.
That what I see in the future Tom is what I call freedom solutions in the book.
-- you can fix Social Security by giving younger workers different options you don't have to change what.
That the folks who -- retired or even near retirement are getting whether that can keep it.
The same with Medicare -- Paul Ryan said let let folks if they want.
Take a subsidy from from the Medicare program and keep their on health insurance it would save the government money.
And more and more Americans are gonna want their own policy so you don't have to just cut things if you give people better options.
We can save a lot of money the problem is the Democrats don't like options they don't like that individual decision making because it loose central control out of Washington yeah.
Back in the hands of the American people.
Going to be great election yeah a little have fun next week in South Carolina senator did admit -- rough and tumble thank you very very.
