Much harder to be an exceptional nation.

To practice what we preach to follow our constitution protect all civil liberties to make sure we have a market and have prosperity and have people who -- -- You know America is a great place when we try to copy what we're doing and we had to be -- much better way and that's forcing them.

To do something.

And be much better what better way than us forcing them to do something no matter how hi Ron Paul's poll numbers get.

The so called conservative pundits confidently claim that the detectives Texas congressman just can't win.

Because of his non interventionist foreign policy this principle was once typical for many Republicans but today it is generally considered.

Out of step and establishment Republican thinking.

I suspect my next guest is among those critics Newt Gingrich's -- -- secretary of state.

And George Bush's former US ambassador to the UN.

And good friend of the show whether we agree or disagree John Bolton joins us now.

Mr.

ambassador it was a pleasure that I welcome here what would you do with Ron Paul became president of the United States and has huge and his cabinet would you want -- -- -- -- reach.

Morning well if if he were to ask me I would very seriously considered because I think go on domestic issues there's no doubt he's far superior to Barack Obama.

I do worry about -- foreign policy but if if I could help serve someone with whom I had.

Broad philosophical agreement I would do what what is wrong with a foreign policy that says wars of necessity.

And wars of defense only not offensive wars.

Not wars and bring about -- regime change not opportunistic or imperialistic wars well I wouldn't slice it that way obviously war should be the last resort but let's look at libertarian philosophy and how it translates internationally.

In domestic issues the core of libertarian is in his individual freedom in residual responsibility minimizing the role of the state right nonaggression.

But basically by allowing people to do what they want to do with outside interference.

If the rest of the world were content to leave us alone than eight than -- an isolationist foreign policy might make sense unfortunately the world is more complicated than that so I would argue.

That if -- really libertarian on domestic issues.

You need a strong national defense you need before we're defense of American interest around the world precisely to protect our -- here.

-- OK if the head of the Israeli Mossad.

And if the prime minister of Israel Bibi Netanyahu both said Iran is not a threat to us and -- this we can -- -- ourselves not good enough for -- don't know it's.

Not because Iran is not an Israeli problem -- -- is a global problem its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Makes it dangerous to us to our friends Israel and Arab friends in the region and globally given Iran's support for terrorism over the years being able to split the atom.

And being -- to deliver a nuclear weapon 101000 miles away is about ten or fifteen years it's not something happen -- and I I don't think so at all I think it for Ron can build a nuclear device.

They can put it in a box car put it on a tramp steamer and -- -- -- New York are what should we do and John Bolton -- bomb the bomb.

Well -- destroy their nuclear capability before the even manifested.

We should have a much higher priority than we do on stopping rogue states like Iran now -- ten years ago.

We had a lot more options to prevent Iran from getting it right we have perilously few options or what what what is a rogue state we didn't stop China -- -- India we have stamp Pakistan wins I brushed off all your saying is we have a pretty bad record so far access and this didn't happen -- -- -- why shouldn't have actually.

That doesn't encourage me it makes me more nervous let's take -- -- if they get nuclear weapons it won't stop there Saudi Arabia will get nuclear weapons Egypt Turkey perhaps others.

This is the threat of proliferation this is why it's so important.

To stop any new world state from getting has -- Gingrich corn -- were less -- the issuance and -- I really do want you to be my secretary of state which we have not talked I've known -- for many years and and I have a high high degree of respect for but I have not endorsed any candidate I've I've talked to several of them happy to -- -- ambassador John -- always a pleasure thanks -- -- -- -- -- -- -- if -- President Obama have -- --
