Attacks on major companies and government agencies the new battlefront in social media -- social media places like your FaceBook and Twitter pages.

But cyber security company Symantec is working to double time to protect individuals and major companies alike.

Joining us now in a Fox Business exclusive from Mountain View California Enrique Salem CEO and president of some -- Great to see -- thank you for coming on the program.

My pleasure lives -- -- -- -- beauty you're looking at one of the hottest areas and this makes me so angry because these people who launched the hacking attacks in the malware in the the worms and who knows what else.

I want to smack these people because we're all just trying to -- our FaceBook and Twitter pages and run governments but their out there aren't that.

That's right I mean everybody has become a target.

Individuals.

Businesses governments because there's so much information about all of these different entities and individuals that the -- can come right.

After.

It's dangerous but I'm not saying that that if if Joe Schmo from your high school gets -- FaceBook page tactics it's the worst thing in the world but.

Do you work with Twitter and or FaceBook to ensure that they called Q are they asking how do we protect from people hacking.

And we work with all types of companies obviously many of the -- technologies in the social media world.

And what we're always trying to help people understand is.

What do they need to protect.

Because everybody to target you look at companies like -- And you know we're one of the biggest targets out there and so were always focused on is what -- people trying to steal they're trying to steal information they're trying to steal intellectual property.

In the case of some of the social media sites they're trying to scrape up information -- that they can then target.

Those individuals you know -- things I always tell people is be careful what you put up.

On any public Internet web site because that information will be used to target you.

To come after you to send an email that basically says hey I want to try this -- thing out and potentially it's not a legitimate email it's gonna try to -- -- right -- -- from things like Twitter to things like.

That big US chamber of commerce which suddenly had -- and its sense that something was trying to get into its computer system and suddenly one of their printers starts spewing pages -- -- -- the Chinese Chinese characters on them.

And I look at that I say okay.

You've got governments around the world trying to figure out what the US is doing.

These are serious threats that are out there for all kinds of people now I heard that the Japanese have created some type of in a way it's a virus itself -- will go after a virus.

It's almost like a vaccine using that viruses of genetic material to then kill it.

They're not allowed to use that are weak can we do something like that.

Well look what's happening right now is governments realize that the next type of warfare is cyber warfare -- we saw last summer.

In the attacks on the uranium enrichment capabilities of Iran than they were clearly.

Disruptive acts that were nation state or government sponsored and so what's happening is we advise governments you gotta be prepared so there's four steps.

Know when you're gonna be attacked so early warning to what steps do you take to protect three had a clean it up -- -- -- were mediate when there is a problem and then for.

How do you counter attack if somebody's coming after you what you're you know sometimes they say you know what you -- -- have the right at.

Attack capabilities that will allow you to reduce or eliminate the threat and without that you you really are more exposed.

Symantec.

Has managed to monetize both security and storage and you're also working now in the cloud with companies like sales force because.

When you store everything in the cloud that can be a little Dicey as -- security is concerned but.

Looking at your stock with all that -- able to do would -- now really one of the pure play biggest games out there since Intel bought your competitor McAfee.

Your stock is down about 11% yet we talk -- analysts who initiated with a buy rating they like your leadership.

What do you need to do to turn that around and does it have something to do with spending some of that money that you have on your balance sheet anywhere for emanate from between 750.

To a billion dollars are -- going to make big acquisitions.

-- we -- we look at our business we continue to drive execution that's what Wall Street and everybody expects from us so we've got five.

A consecutive quarters prior obviously haven't announced the December quarter of -- are -- period now right but 55 quarters in a row that we've hit or exceeded.

A Wall Street's expectations and -- used need to keep doing that.

When you talk about and then -- you know we are very selective we've done a number of good acquisitions over the last year that are performing well for Symantec and we'll continue to look at -- like cloud computing mobility.

The years virtualization as a potential opportunities for us and the -- Well -- you having a background of having come from a company bright mail where he worked on secure messaging it's perfect for something now is and that.

That that's right and you know our our goal that I -- -- tell people are our goal is to rid the world of all spam -- -- -- -- Exactly yeah.

-- at the same thing now you there's a lot of bad people out there.

And -- our job is to protect we protect your information -- protect individuals -- -- -- an individual -- -- -- -- -- -- -- the largest corporation.

Enrique Salem the CEO president to Symantec who was able to read at least our email accounts of erectile dysfunction spam so thank you.

It's have -- -- that the chancellor is always -- to be any.
