But this year has been a bumpy one for the markets -- my next guest says that all -- all the more reasons to consider mutual funds joining me now -- -- funds to consider.

Next -- is Karen Dolan she's the director of fund analysis for -- -- and Karen let me start off by asking you.

Which is kind of the opposite of what a mutual fund it is what -- here -- -- For our viewers to make sure that they still consider.

And this asset class attractive and invest in -- as we head into the new year.

Hi Sabina yes you know I think that mutual funds are great option for a lot of investors out there they're transparent there's professional money management they're fairly inexpensive.

And you get somebody who can sort of it's their full time job to be navigating things -- -- and actually there's some really great stock pickers in mutual funds -- -- despite.

I think some rumors that they are gonna hedge funds I think you've got some really outstanding investors and mutual -- -- Let's talk about some of your pixie her sport for specific ideas coming from that very different approaches and I like them all.

Let's start off with asked PA Crescent deposit here is setting gives you some exposure to financials with a lot of people -- -- gonna take off next year.

Absolutely -- Steve -- has really set himself apart.

So he really diced apple it 2000 mean he's been easing in very slowly.

More recently and I think it's interesting when an investor -- -- seasoned investor like Steve Roenick starts put that past work as he tends to sit -- -- cast.

I would say though that cash position.

Has not how this fund -- he's done a really good and very strong mart gets and so.

It hasn't really been the kind of thing that's called performance that it's just serve as the dry powder for the next one is -- Morgan Stanley focused growth fine this is finding companies like Amazon apple and others and dominate their space.

Performance little bumpy with this -- still it's picking the winner is in every industry.

Yes -- I think Dennis lynch he's not a household name for growth investors -- a lot of household names in gross investing has have.

Christian -- quite frankly they meet their name in the ninety's.

And have had a really hard time and does clintons really emerge as one of the best growth managers out there I think he.

Unlike the groceries in the nineties and he looks for more than just a good story he's actually looking for the financials to back it -- so.

Concentrated portfolio these companies are profitable cast Saturday -- And they're really good good businesses so I think he's just one to watch if you're looking to invest in international markets you pay costly international value -- distinct if portfolio here strong returns.

May be on the downside not very defense -- if we need to be more of a defensive we need to take more -- -- defensive stance next year.

This may not be the right one for you.

You know I think it is more cyclically oriented right now I'm actually build up that position in 2008 -- skip day suits and -- Markets first half and really did increase industrials materials and yes thank you think the fund could get hurt.

If we have a tough market next year however they've had lots of tough markets over their tenure and they've done really well.

Throughout if you look at the longer term tough markets that markets this -- been really resilient and prevention.

Strong investor and we ran at a time Karen but the last when he -- -- -- as Pimco all -- it's a real all weather play within nick.

-- mix of bonds and equities even tips out there.
