Election.
-- tonight in Washington DC.
The Republicans appear to be in disarray.
There is.
There are a number of issues that are now outstanding that we all have -- had been resolved.
Including members of congress in the senate.
-- -- -- the keystone XL pipeline whether it be the payroll tax cut extension of the doc fix or the unemployment benefit extension.
Joining me now -- employing an -- role in all of this.
Congressman Lewis -- It's great to have you with us congressman I'm saying you just left -- Republican conference.
-- Are we going to see a vote tonight your judgment.
Yes I think we will and actually.
We're far more united and I would have thought we would be.
You know we passed a bill some -- federal reservations about.
The payroll tax holiday that unlike my original proposal three years ago.
This when really there's not supplement to Social Security trust fund.
And now -- if you were call was gonna take the money -- Art when you talk about what you're right we wanna we wanna point we don't want to get to buried in years -- -- that.
The Democrats right now circulating year earlier legislation.
Reminding all of your fellow members in the Republican caucus.
That they that you put forward legislation that would have been -- to -- extension.
So it what you're saying there was so what's the problem.
I'm sorry -- mine was a total holiday.
There wouldn't be nobody paying any income tax -- Social Security -- Medicare.
Let's find kind of holidays I mean I want that policy will -- I'm made for these bozos to go out and say that they like your teacher saying.
We're gonna have a holiday from school to more you can skip 2% of the -- yet.
-- that's now holiday -- said no taxes.
Moody's said I noted being I don't I don't really know what has I don't wanna go to Iraq I don't wanna go back two years to what that's likely it's not not now but I wanna sell well luckily I don't -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Not an art house and I -- north you go but there is no -- this presidents in the Senate's proposal.
Is for two months.
That and then rates out there -- we voted for a thousand OK I work I.
-- -- for a 160 dollars congress for their essential reality here.
The reality is.
Bit just about in order put it this way.
89%.
Of the folks over in the senate apparently with the crazy idea that your leadership had agreed with -- pass legislation.
And now you guys over on outsiders and up.
That's on his basic phrases that I can't and we never great to to -- somebody should have a speaker Boehner should make.
Our call that discussion and that I thought was made pretty clear -- aren't going with a two month.
Extension and actually ways sound pretty united.
So long so -- saying -- that's not gonna happen.
Period now it's are gonna happen -- obviously you will -- full year let me ask you what will happen.
I get the impression that we're gonna be.
We're not going to do the senate.
Two months little.
Extension we're gonna we're gonna continue to push.
For a full year where workers will have that and it should be paid for and -- -- -- what ours are urging wise that we all snow.
-- gone.
Eliminating the 125.
Billion in assets that are in part.
And the fifty billion in cash put that in the bill to let we're well will vote for -- conferees.
And I know the speaker is considered me a pain in the rear before.
I'm encouraging them to let the senate deal with the pain in the rear like me -- put me on the conference committee I'm not sure that's gonna happen.
But and -- -- -- will have conferees in and out my biggest.
Try to negotiate I think this -- I could say was some safety and assurance that -- -- your logic might well prevail.
Well I thought it was good logic that anyway.
I'm not sure they wanna do that to the -- let them.
Well what you what we're going to go right now I don't believe that there -- a lot of concern about the feelings over there at the senate and particularly Mitch McConnell.
-- there is an appearance here did Eric Cantor the majority leader and the speaker.
Are well working on different sides of the divide right now.
There is in -- -- appearance in the minds of some analysts and one of home was on this broadcast earlier saying.
You know it's pretty clear that there is a problem here in the speaker needs to be very careful of is back.
You agree without analysis.
I'm not sure the both the speaker in the later say that this and it was not told that we were -- had a done deal with two months.
Extension and so I don't know where they got the the idea that we were gonna support yeah.
It -- we're pretty unified in not supporting it when -- -- a full year we wanna be responsible.
Not just and -- tower to the metaphor of kicking the can down the road.
Benevolent order we all aren't Cochran it's my lord real.
-- -- -- -- -- chartered deal and it.
Congressman what -- let me let me just so I understand.
You're gonna get a vote on the payroll tax cut extension.
The doc fix the unemployment benefit extension.
The keystone XL pipeline or are they in all of this now.
That the conference is unified we have a legitimate proposal.
The deals with the entire year and they're not willing to do -- two months we're not gonna keep doing this it.
We've already been heard from.
Nonpartisan groups that say you can't do this for two months since unworkable.
So we're gonna have conferees -- as I understand it.
We're going to say look we're here ready to negotiate senate.
That you can be home enjoying yourself what we need to have your conferees back here so we can work this out.
For a whole year which is the responsible thing to do.
Congressman we appreciate you being here we're -- -- blowing up love in love being with -- thank you.
