As the song goes Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.

From the lights to the parties to the cheerful spirit of the season.

But maybe the best part is all the music with me today is Tim Westergren the founder of the personalized radio service pandora.

To discuss its holiday offerings hi Tim thank you so much for coming in.

Good morning so let's first just talk a little bit about pandora's plans what are your plans for the Christmas season.

Lots.

The music.

-- I was a big part of the holidays and every year we find people really tuning in to Christmas music of all kinds this time here.

OK so you have planned to kind of have different personalize stations can you tell me a little bit about that.

Right so we create a host genre stations if you will -- cover everything from to classical so Latin Latin music contemporary Christian we've really created.

Collection of sounds to fed anyone's -- so whatever kind of soundtrack you want for holidays has had an easy way to get on pandora.

Do you usually do -- -- Holidays are you just doing this for Christmas.

We've done this for a number years Christmas as the most popular ones that Christmas has already in most popular search term on Andorra so this is a big time -- for us.

I'm and so what is the favorite song on -- -- list during the holiday seasons you know.

Well -- and production is beginning to look a lot like Christmas as it has -- right out there I'm back a lot of artists Perry Como Frank Sinatra Michael who blame -- -- Carrey.

Trans Siberian orchestra they're all a bunch of artists they got a lot of spending around around Christmas.

And is this Christmas strategy is -- an attempt to reach different consumers may be an older generation.

Whole pandora's a personalized service or always trying to offer.

An economy that any individual -- -- -- Nine years old are fifteen real -- classical music or hip hop -- so.

That's that's a part of our core mission and and around Christmas time as a particularly -- great opportunity I think.

To provide music that it's hard to find on radio now and so whenever your tastes are there's a place that you can find it on pandora and it's very easy to access sound you can listen to it you know -- a host of devices in your home.

So -- is a really good solution for holiday.

And it seems as though pandora is trying to broaden its appeal recently Ford announced that it was adding pandora to its truck line in 2012.

Are there similar deals in the works and how significant -- this so called.

Vehicle strategy be for pandora.

No cars are an important part of our future they they represent historically and a half of all radio listening so it's a really important priority for us and we have a host of car manufacturers that have already announced integrations with pandora and are many more to come so that's a big area of focus and personalized radio the cars quite something.

You know it's pretty exciting -- like that and during my car.

And why have you here Bloomberg reported last week that pandora had lost a third of its value since its IPO in June.

Why do you things some investors have sour.

-- on pandora.

We know we're really not focused on what's happening right now our our eyes are way out on the horizon as is a really huge opportunity radios going from massive transformation -- going from broadcast to personalize and we're -- -- the early chapters of that story so our company really has its -- pretty far down the road.

And CEO Joseph Kennedy said recently that going global will be difficult for -- -- because of copyright issues around the world and other legal hurdles.

But what part of the -- do you expect to try to be pushing into first.

Gosh it's hard to predict that it's it's obviously part of pandora's vision is definitely to be a global service and have billions of people listening all over the world and and the -- -- to -- -- -- will really be determined by who allows us a sort of an affordable all and manageable licensing structure so.

In or knocking on a bunch -- And are in are hopeful we can we can start making progress there.

And -- as -- last question can we get your favorite Christmas song.

-- gosh that's a hard question asked them again and this time in the morning.

About -- I like it that is a big gains look a lot like Christmas for sure at tech great well Tim thank you so much for coming in and have a very happy holiday.
