Now turning to tonight's other top story with the Iowa caucus just about three weeks away Republican front runners new Gingrich and Mitt Romney.

Are taking a more aggressive stance in their campaigns but -- new holding strong in the polls does Mitt Romney even stand a chance.

And could -- surprise candidate through the whole race off kilter joining me now -- -- Editor of the daily collar -- great to have you back on the show.

You know I I look at this mudslinging that's going on right now and I think what's it's gonna be -- nicer softer sweeter campaign -- happen.

Oh well there's a lot at stake is what happened and all of a sudden it looked obvious to maybe -- -- but the Romney campaign.

They Newt Gingrich was for real that this wasn't just one of the Ceres -- candidacies we've seen over the past six months beginning with Donald Trump.

And ending with Herman Cain that this was for real that he might actually be able to displace the front runner.

And so the Ronnie people finally may be too late decide they need to needed to take Gingrich out and that's exactly you're seeing now well.

I want you to listen to some of the sound that we got today -- and -- talking about -- -- money but he got -- out Fannie and Freddie.

Hilarious stuff -- in this.

Do you believe we should give that money back.

Pleasure do he he was on -- debate.

Saying the politicians who took money from Freddie and Fannie should go to jail and -- which is outrageous.

In itself but.

But the look he says he's it was in a consulting business.

That's very different the consulting business other people have been -- -- he was in the business of connecting folks with government.

Well I gotta say ad tracker is saying what a lot of people out there thinking about that Fannie and Freddie work.

That's right I mean that there's a huge difference.

Whether or not you approve of what governor Romney did it Bain Capital that that that's not at all related to -- in -- fact lobbying work that Newt Gingrich did on behalf.

Freddie Mac and and look I live in DC -- half my neighbors do in effect lobbying work for Freddie Mac or Fannie -- very very common.

But that's just true ask around I mean there's almost no we'll have a lot of money you know it's we need to give them those -- taxpayer money and -- and they keep on spending at.

I would you respond to to what how new plot back on this he got down in the -- listen to this.

Governor Romney would like to give back all the money he's -- from bankrupting companies and laying off employees.

Over his years in -- That I would be glad to them listen to -- and I'll bet you ten dollars not 101000 that he won't take the offer.

That that seems like a pretty low blow at -- and not one that I'm sure I really by.

Well that's because it's stupid.

That's why you don't -- it right so I mean if if gamers can pointless and I'm not carrying water for Romney trust me.

But on the facts if he can point to specific case where Mitt Romney were Bain Capital laid off people at you know in a way that hurt the company.

They bought and as a private equity front that you know point to tell us but the point of private equity used to take companies that are failing.

And fix them and often times is you know that entails -- right.

And sometimes nothing you can't fix them.

And the better thing to do was get rid of them -- -- of sponsoring them like the government does well that's correct.

Well let's talk about Donald Trump because any day -- talk about Donald it's a good day in my view and today he is out with a -- saying that he is not going to host.

A debate with presidential candidates not many wanted to participate.

To be sure.

Is he opening the way for an independent run here.

We'll just you know -- if he had to have the debate if you had to cancel that it would have been -- classy -- debate in human history and he wants you to know that up.

So not like to cancel it because he had to end this now is not -- this isn't judge it up.

This is it's obvious what it is of course this is a long is -- the call -- TV it's a tease.

This is part of his publicity strategy it's very effective I like trump I think he's interesting and kind of energetic he's not running for president -- both forum I mean look it up now.

Let's -- the country isn't.

That -- decline that they would vote for -- trump what's been.

Well he's not -- sure I noticed -- that this press release.

Also act gave that readers the date of the final episode of his TV show so there's a little promotion at you know -- -- I don't know -- -- it it didn't have that.

Interestingly Michael Savage offering -- -- a million dollars to drop out of the race.

That's just another light vehicle who support this -- is off the rails off the rails.

Well I met America is getting -- -- Kind of a flaky phase in its history we hopefully we'll have to stability at some point but for right now this is obviously another attempted to Jews ratings but still behind it is.

But impulse -- a lot of conservatives feel which is frustration.

They look at Newt Gingrich -- a lot about his record a lot of those positions they say he's not that conservative really and they're upset and they want Republican primary voters to know that.

To this point Republican primary voters have completely ignored them.

Because they're not a conservative -- there a populist mode and they see -- is a populist hero if that keeps up he wins the nomination.

Can you sell him in the general election out that's what I wanna know which of the Republican candidates is the best bet -- the general much right.

We you know -- of course know this ready to people in Washington and and Gingrich is a creature of Washington so my -- not attacking him but he's been here for what forty years or something.

People who know him here believe and they said this a lot.

That is unlikely he will get to the November election without melting down imploding -- -- -- -- metaphor without saying something that causes damage to his own campaign.

Is that true I don't know I can't predict the future he does seem.

What he's learned a lot from some of the rough times he's had over the past twenty years he may be a different guy who knows -- that's the conventional view it.

Well Tucker I I think here as long as you -- not lobbying for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were OK I'd like to -- they never offered up.

-- -- apparently it's easy way to make money tiger tail here with the -- to appreciate your time.
