-- 1009 and all those -- -- download put your personal information.

At greater risk so what -- need to know to protect yourself on your phone joining us now scream -- back.

The vice president of security strategy from Juniper Networks thank you great to see you again Korean.

Nice to see -- so -- -- for our viewers what exactly is a mobile security threat out there right now.

Yes -- you alluded to this in your introduction it's it's it's -- really interesting question because that typically attackers go where the masses are and so if you look at the latest numbers that.

Most recently we've seen about.

Nine.

US using Smartphones last month Google announced.

That they -- -- ten billion applications downloaded.

Marketplace.

And so as more more people are using these devices as you alluded to their likes -- computers in your pocket.

Attackers are starting to head over there and so what they're doing is they're developing specific malware.

That is embedded -- to some of these applications.

That will then go out and do things like compromise my personal information whether it's trying to get access to -- Username or password and using -- access online banking or whether it's getting access to things like my credit card data -- and our quality user privacy risks.

Are we miss -- in believing that when I get a new -- -- getting new android phone that it is safe and it comes with all of sort of the software and the protection mechanisms.

That we need because it's made by apple because it's on the operating system is manufactured by Google are we stays with a -- that just comes straight out of -- box.

And we've seen an increase of around 400%.

Of mobile malware.

Over the course of the last twelve months and so.

Users really to take a hard look at that information and really step back and understand what type of technologies -- capabilities.

-- they need to supplement in order to make sure that they have a secure experience when they're using Smartphone devices to go on line.

I wanna get -- three specific ideas that we can give our viewers to make themselves safer.

I you can see them on the screen right now let's start with installing and now where software on your device and you know a lot of free options out there Korean.

-- -- good enough for do you actually have to pay for a software.

Program on your on your mobile phone in the -- Computer.

Yeah that's it's a great point there was actually a a research study -- -- not too long ago that actually compared free.

Solutions to solutions that are provided by service providers and other.

And clearly there was a distinct difference between the type of capabilities that consumers get from free.

Vs paid for applications you know at the end of the day you get what you pay for his moniker that holds true but.

To that point I think users need to really be much more aware and understand the type of options and offerings that are available to not.

Market.

And then next.

Suggesting you have -- is offering up our robust passport have a robust password but explain what that means doesn't need to be twenty characters -- character doesn't need to have letters and and and numbers how often should we need changing them.

Yes a lot of interest -- data points there around.

Both behavior and best practices so minimum eight characters alphanumeric so numbers and letters.

And the -- the need to change that -- -- on a pretty regular basis.

But one really interesting one that people don't talk a lot about is really think about using different passwords for different services that you -- so.

Don't use the same passport for something like a web service like FaceBook or Twitter that you do with your online banking applications.

And really think about using separate and even more secure passwords for things -- who comprise or compromise your your identity and more importantly.

Your finance the last one we have this download an -- that locates and tracks your device and -- got in the event of a lot.

Thank you Korean too -- Juniper Networks really great idea is really great solutions for keeping yourself safe for our.

On your mobile -- thank you very much thank.

Thanks trending -- -- all right well coming up tomorrow we're gonna take a look at how you can protect yourself on social networking sites.
