Our vice president Dan -- for standard -- going to be witness for the rest of the show mr.
vice president good to see you thanks for being here in the -- -- -- you're so you're going for the big money guys hit the big money -- have -- for -- guy has the best chance be President Obama.
And that's -- -- Romney look.
When you net elect the next president of states you gotta have somebody who's a leader.
Both I think in the public sector and the private sector -- somebody has character.
Integrity is the essence of good character Mitt Romney clearly has that you need somebody has conservative principles he's a conservative.
And very is now the in his past these.
-- -- that's what I I I've known him for a long period time he is conservative he has been conservative.
Right he was governor of Massachusetts.
Right wing conservatives don't get elected out there.
But he he is conservative -- -- say -- here's what I mean limited government.
Less taxes less regulation and strong national finance and all those -- -- -- centers and most electable and well that's what Republicans need to you know think.
Long and hard about -- a leader got good character and -- electable.
The one phrase though Romney care is is an albatross around his -- -- it does it bother you -- all that he continues to stand behind it that insurance mandate -- the mandate that forces people to buy insurance.
Even if they don't want to which is the chief criticism of Obama care.
There -- that that's a fair question he's much better prepared to answer that they're -- but here is my understanding of the situation.
He very clearly has said that there were some things -- Romney care -- -- his health care bill in Massachusetts.
That didn't work as he anticipated.
It was an experiment in how states are supposed to do that he's learned a lot.
From trying to do this in Massachusetts but he has set over and over again this is what's most important.
What does he think of obamacare he says he will do everything in his power to repeal that.
On day one you many individual mandate which he supported in Massachusetts but it that was at the state level it's not it's not working through.
It isn't is not going to work he's learned a lot he is and mortar steeped in this health care debate.
And has been on the experiment -- front than anybody else he knows what works and what doesn't work.
And that's why when he says he's gonna repeal it he's gonna repeal because he knows it won't work.
He's got more credibility on this issue -- about.
No I did say -- the big money guy because he is a big money cities in private equity which is what you're in as well you would cerberus and he was -- Bain Capital a lot of people see that as part of the problem -- that these big private equity firms are too disassociated.
From what the guys in the -- are doing from what -- small business committees do and they they look at it from 35000 feet instead of down on the ground.
Vote for our for example our company we own forty.
445 companies and a lot of these are small businesses that some of our businesses that are less less than fifty people some of group or large businesses.
The important thing is is that Mitt Romney knows how to create jobs he understands the private sector.
And for -- if we've really truly gonna help the middle class.
You need somebody that understands how to create jobs and Mitt Romney the person that he is.
He is spouses and breeze and walks middle class values responsibility.
Fiscal prudence these are all middle class values that -- -- Mitt Romney but I didn't have to grow up I mean Ronald Reagan of course literally grew up.
In a working class Mitt Romney's you know had kind of a -- spoke right I'm.
I don't I wouldn't classify as that let's say that he he didn't grow up for -- -- but that's not really the point the point is who are who are you -- what we do.
Once you're elected and -- he's -- leader people is that these are proven leader and he's our best hope all right that's drawn me your full Ronnie why not new.
And that -- -- for a long time since 1978 when he came to the House of Representatives.
I consider him a friend.
And he might be disappoint with my endorsement of Romney but I think -- will be the better candidate.
Against Obama I think he'd be a better president and Romney's my choice but.
Again what is it about new what is what is running have a new doesn't but I think -- is a better leader.
I think when it comes to the character issue Mitt Romney is as clean as anybody can possibly there's no ethical questions.
About Mitt -- He's got the qualifications.
He is -- we have a debate on who's more conservative whether it's neuter Mitt Romney -- group you know I believe that.
-- is as conservative more conservative many cases than than than it is.
And he's more electable so under the criteria that -- news.
-- judge on who should be our candidate next president.
I believe Mitt Romney is about a -- -- we think Romney is more electable if Newt does become the Republican nominee could he beat Obama.
Yes I think he -- Really against them -- I think the Republican nominee.
Whoever that person may be has a very good chance.
Of beating President Obama and I today I just came from -- -- with somebody that knows a lot about macro economics follows these you know.
Domestic economy what it.
I'm not and they are that road outside afterwards Megan admonish nobody -- I've I've place a lot of confidence -- -- team manages.
Considerable amount of money.
He is convinced and some of the things that he's -- read recently told -- this I'm not sure I'm there yet.
But he's fairly convinced that we are gonna have a recession next year I hope he's wrong.
I told him I thought it was wrong he says I've got some fairly convincing empirical -- -- that and I've been doing this for forty years.
And I think that group but we're heading toward -- recession.
I hope for the sake of the country's wrong but if in fact he's right.
Going to be a very tough.
Oh president -- well in.
The first President Bush the election took place just about ironically just as we were coming out of recession but the perception.
Was we were in a recession time he was running for reelection of what's it like that running for re election when when the economy's looking bet.
Yeah well for an unfortunate perceptions are very important and -- they -- more important in that election than perhaps they should have been.
That hers got right now Ross perot's along the road finished -- -- Got 19%.
Of -- and a lot of which would have on the bush tax David the facts -- this fourth quarter.
We were technically in recession first quarter of 92 we are technically in recession.
Second quarter 92 leveled out third quarter we had 4% growth since.
Fourth quarter we -- 6% growth.
So on Election Day the economy -- Reuters but I was reluctant to put your -- innovation in the place of Obama right now.
What is it like what how tough is it to fight for reelection when the economy looks bad huge difference President George Bush.
My President Bush 41.
He said over and over again -- American people gonna judge me on what I had done.
You know he said I've made the tough decisions and you know we had a lot of -- -- -- particularly in -- and in foreign policy.
Now with the Berlin Wall coming down the Soviet Union passed fancy eastern Central Europe freed apartheid South Africa limited we had a whole host.
And the economy was actually growing by the time election camera and the president said from -- there -- we're judgment on the decisions -- And my record.
President Obama has already made the decision the opposite of what George Bush is now maybe you'll be successful that his decision -- -- not running on my record.
I can't run on my record.
I'm gonna run against Wall Street a -- running gets the rich I'm learning that.
-- the run against the banks and I'm gonna run against the congress so he's already live out his campaign thing and it's to blame everybody but himself.
Totally different situations.
We've -- on our record and director spoke for itself unfortunate I think the American people made.
A little bit of a mistake but they're smarter than than we are and that elected Bill Clinton's rather than George Bush mister vice.
