Seems CNN's not the only one who's checking whose nine year nice -- recently sat down with one company who has its own list.

Consumer reports recently unveiled its 2011.

Naughty and nice holiday list now.

This close ranks and the good and not so good consumer policies of companies all over the country.

Joining me -- Tod marks senior editor for consumer reports -- great to see you -- -- -- tell how do you come up with a -- how do you put together.

While it is an interest in less -- an eclectic list to -- we consumer reports are reporters and editors got together.

In our different franchises and talked about some policies that we kinda like the knows that we didn't.

We also solicited input from mark FaceBook fans here -- consumer reports and also.

From the fans that of our sister site to consumers dot com and they came up with a lot of these.

We vetted -- and we kind of talked about them.

And again it's not an indictment of a company it all a -- -- endorsement it's really basically comes down to.

Similar policies are aspects of a policy that we give a thumbs up to where it comes down RA because of that consumer friendly news.

Well I I like the whole idea of rating on the -- is because this is what I pay attention -- do you treat me well -- the consumer don't you treat me well.

Now at our consumers closing are they opting to buy on the basis of your list at all.

I don't think it's a matter that we want to tell people to buyer not to buy from these companies who wanted to really illustrate.

That companies have very different policies and at a time of the year.

When consumers are spending so much money and they're still vulnerable.

We want -- to realize that they have choices and they need to read the fine print because there's always.

The -- remains in the retail are let's get down to it I'm gonna give you the name of the company you can tell me why they are on the nice list Amex.

American Express a little really nice policy where they will actually give you our return -- give -- -- refund for products figure on cents.

Unsuccessful I trying to return to the retailer or the manual or so that's a real nice thing.

I love that I have an Amex card I didn't even know that -- yeah I now -- is a company I love good product good price what did you guys like.

REI is along the lines and companies like yellow being for example in orbits that will take any item back for any reason.

No question to ask -- it also extend they make that policy.

Really easy to implement.

If you border -- line direct catalog were at a regular brick and mortar store even if you're REI online outlet you can return it.

By any means.

Any means you choose and again no must still -- -- like that's Live Nation why do you like Live Nation.

Yeah -- nation as a company that often gets gets a lot of criticism for a lot of it's fees and what have you.

But they don't something nice recently and they actually now gives consumers.

Three days to cancel -- order.

Before an event at participating venues and they also allow you to return your -- it better ones become available.

Within -- are out of time before the show goes on that's a nice when -- -- like that OK so others on the nice list for this cost -- a favorite of mine and design.

I think Amazon takes about 40% of my paycheck every week it seems like that anyway knotty -- not mile stack -- the company's.

With -- practices you're not too thrilled about starting with GameStop.

Yeah again -- -- can really egregious about a policy -- GameStop really goes and tremendous beat tale about.

The -- exact procedures one must follow to know -- her to get -- make a return or exchange.

But after this whole litany of of fine print and they say we reserve the right basically to turn -- a refund for or return for any reason so we -- well -- kind of stop this in our tracks.

That's funny REX American Apparel is on your list this is an interesting company because it is a favorite.

Nokia.

Having twenty somethings and thirty somethings you don't like it why.

Well it's just one of the thing -- an American Apparel fine company.

But one of the interesting things we didn't like that but they get a different return policy depending upon where do you what the item in -- store.

Or bordered on line.

Now I think they give their -- of their online customers.

Bigger break I think you have up to 45 days and he can get.

A cash refund whereas if you buy it in the store I think you only get thirty days and get only merchandise credit.

Married so -- the final body on your list here RadioShack admits it sometimes -- online and in store customers different prices hot.

-- outside -- thanks for coming on today great not in nice -- -- should get that on the newsstand then that in their latest -- -- consumer reports thanks so much.
