And Occupy Wall Street protesters have made their way to over to the New York Stock Exchange after starting a planned day of demonstrations at their former base as a key -- Says for those in just tuning in now we're gonna go over to is a key park where those Occupy Wall Street protesters.
Did start demonstrations today and we have -- Webster standing by there to sort of recap.
Well we've been talking about for most the day so asked if you could just talk about a little bit.
What started these demonstrations in what we can expecting them for the rest of the day.
Well they're calling it a day of national action and certainly -- day of action here in New York Manhattan in particular.
From what we understand the protesters say they are moving on to Wall Street which they are doing right now.
At some point -- -- that they plan to fan out across the city and targets and subway stations exactly what that entails we'll have to wait and -- They say they want to get their message out.
To a broad audience then later on the -- -- gather again at Foley square in lower Manhattan.
Where -- fighting to hold a rally including quite a few union membership.
Groups so they have applied for a -- at least one of those union so they're expecting a very large -- for that.
That at some point from then they plan to walk across the Brooklyn bridge and a sign of unity.
They promised at least -- we believe there was -- -- be peaceful demonstrations today but there's no doubt.
There's an edge and its intentions -- certainly doesn't.
-- memories of two days ago in the eviction from -- -- -- still very fresh in -- in the memories of these protesters.
There were arrests we've seen so far close to the stock exchange have been protesters have literally just sat down on the street.
Police officers with a bull holds a telling them to get up and if they don't get up.
That they put those plastic ties on them and and move them out so it's you know it's a case of -- -- -- -- -- sitting on the ground we're gonna arrested and that's what we've seen.
Seems a little bit -- jostling and done.
Some perhaps -- confrontations.
But nothing too drastic at this point probably a crowd of four to 500 people total.
So we'll just see how this develops but certainly it is a day of action a day of national actions of those.
In other cities across the country was see -- -- happening there.
But by the way they've also called for students to walk out of classes today so we'll see whether that coal -- -- -- -- -- either here or across the country for that matter Diane.
All right -- thanks we appreciate you keeping us updated and for those just tuning in this is all -- to mark the two month anniversary of that Occupy Wall Street movement.
Now we got some encouraging news about the labor market in this morning jobless claims fell to a seven month low.
For the second straight week claims came in under 400000.
And they came in at 300.
88000.
That people filing for the jobless benefits for the first time the last week.
And that's down 5000 from the previous week as well the jobless estimate was for 395000.
To the previous week was revised higher but it remained below that 400000 mark and continuing claims fell by 57000.
To three point six million.
We also got some housing data in housing starts came -- at an annual rate -- 628000.
For the month of October the estimate there was for 6101000.
And October building permits as a sign of future activity came in at 653000.
Which also beat the estimates -- -- all around there this morning.
Markets are liking that news.
We -- them down across the board for most of the morning but now we're in the Green across the board Dow futures are up by 33 the S&P is now it just reversed course right now.
Down by about a point.
But again pretty close it positive territory to nasdaq's just a quarter of a point right now also those markets still seem to be.
Searching for direction and purple announce this let's go over to lower Cincinnati on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange -- -- got good news here -- but the market still seem to be a little bit -- Once again -- and we have the good economic data coming from the US and still -- -- in Europe that they can contain their debt crisis.
As those doubts this morning stem from the fact that that his ten year.
Bond yields flirting with 7% nearly there and also UK consumer confidence coming in at a record love so that recession talk.
