Have come out against the building of the Keystone Pipeline.
This is actress Daryl -- getting arrested over the summer after protests in the project now Julia Louis-Dreyfus is the front woman in an -- against the pipeline.
And the message is delivered directly the President Obama wants us.
Remember when President Obama said let's just be the generation that ends the tyranny of oil -- that -- eat.
Except I just checked and right now big oil is still pretty much running -- But Mr.
President you've got eight fabulous chance to turn that around and make good on your word.
As we speak some very greedy guys are trying to make some very big bucks building a very very dangerous -- -- While it appears that the president is actually bound to Hollywood pressure the administration is delaying plans to approve the pipeline by the way the -- in the pipeline would create 20000.
US jobs.
Former TV a chairman Loma college in Pittsburgh and he joins us.
-- -- -- -- I'd personally hypocrisy of it all when I hear Hollywood actors.
Who fought tooth and now for extra millions for the -- -- run to come from a billionaire family.
I don't even know where to Begin we start talking about the hypocrisy but let's talk about the economics of this because Americans are hurting.
Can't we afford to not 320000 jobs on on speculation that this might be a quote -- quote -- pipeline.
No the environmental impact statement was completed in August Charles today the United States will we import.
637000.
Barrels of crude all from Iraq.
The other question is do we want to import all from our neighbor to the north Canada -- supplies more -- to the US than any other country.
Are doing one about all from a country that does not share our values.
I think we ought to do business with our neighbors to the north -- -- thousand.
Companies based in the United States that are now working in the whole stance of northern Canada and as you said 20000 jobs in construction.
But it's even more than that it's a seven billion dollar capital investment into the US economy.
It over five billion dollars in taxes for the states and local communities.
From Canada down to Port Arthur, Texas the keystone project makes good sense for America.
Mr.
MacCulloch -- doing -- Dreyfuss is the actress her father.
-- Dreyfus energy which is.
You know a big energy company no small irony there but.
Julie Dreyfus talks about the tyranny of people who wanted ended tyranny of greedy people and -- really saving me from the tyranny of the humanity of self tedious self righteous.
Behavior on the part of actresses like this but here's -- here's a question.
-- whether -- 6500 jobs created thirteen thousand jobs created.
Could this be considered infrastructure doesn't the president lot more infrastructure spending in this country which would create jobs that even the unions would like the unions would like this one too.
-- Obama this has called.
For a stronger infrastructure to make the United States more energy secure the Keystone Pipeline.
A 1660.
Miles from Canada are friendly neighbor to the north to the Gulf of Mexico.
Will in fact make the United States more energy secure and -- I -- We should wean ourselves off of crude all particularly all -- -- imported.
And this is this is a project it makes good stance for the country environmentally.
It is already been put to the test in the environmental impact statement is in.
But -- -- know you're no threat to the environment where there are reports of course the State Department considering a reroute now the trans Canada may abandon the project altogether if that's the case what are you hearing about that.
Look this project has been around since 2000 and -- -- Now nailed the State Department is gonna do a national interest determination but they said that this study to be finished this year.
The president has already spoken that that he will make a decision and -- a decision soon.
And the president should make a decision to support the Keystone Pipeline project.
As it has been approved through the environmental impact statement whether -- Let you go you know you talked about the fact that ultimately we will have alternatives and it's obviously a Smart idea.
But the transition to that because a lot of people out there have to fuel to private jets as they move from -- set to another.
How Long Will that take.
Charles is gonna take decades it's gonna take decades but we need a full diverse portfolio.
To include -- -- in solar and biomass renewable energy we need to conserve energy in the country be more energy efficient.
We need to advance nuclear we need clean coal.
In yes we need pipeline infrastructure.
To bring all from that are neighbors to the north in Canada.
Down in the United States tight if that pipeline is not -- guess where the -- is likely to go.
China.
I would like dole which is affordable come to the United States make our country more energy secure absolutely I got to tell you and we better be energy secure because that will be national security -- -- -- thank you very much we appreciate your time this morning.
