As well.

Tonight governor Rick Perry proposed a tax plan called cut balance and grow.

That would overhaul the united states tax code seeking to -- a 20% flat tax.

And eliminating both the death tax and the Alternative Minimum Tax you first heard about this plan from governor Perry's advisor Steve Forbes here and freedom.

Watch.

So I think we'll get the single rate generous exemptions for adults and for children so you don't -- in the class warfare argument you should be allowed to keep some of what you -- for basic necessities in life.

Because -- plan will do that slashing the corporate -- tax rates it would become competitive there as well.

And slashing and eliminating -- some saving so we create more capital for more jobs.

More capital for more jobs but how -- governor -- yeah.

Measure up to Herman -- 999.

Plan or Rick santorum's 000.

Plan or any of the other candidates tax plans.

-- and here to discuss is my friend and radio host Larry Elder Larry it's a pleasure welcome here.

Judge my pleasure thank you for having what what are your thoughts are right off the top with the concept of a flat tax whether it's 15% or seventeen.

Or twenty whether -- some little deductions are no deductions Larry -- think.

About the principle of filing a tax return the size of an index card and scraping the code.

Well I think that something like that would be superior to what we have right now judgment as you pointed out the beginning of the show will have a revenue probably have a spending problem.

And the thing I like about all these Republican candidates is that they recognize that -- each one has a different plan.

They're political plans more than anything else -- let that they're designed let you know that they're thinking outside the box the bottom line is.

Any of these plans is that deal way dead on arrival if we don't have a Republican.

Congress that is not filibuster proof -- we're not gonna have that though none of them is gonna really.

Survive the the the light of day in the in the real world we have built big economy is in in the case of of repairing what he's proposing I like.

If they balanced budget amendment so that future congresses are have their hands tied.

So that no matter what capacity can add on it that's the -- big thing that control the spending by congress -- right.

Our armed yet you don't seem very optimistic about this but let me share a little bit of the optimism that I have you tell me what you think this is the first time in my memory and perhaps yours.

That major candidates for of that nomination of one of the two major parties.

Are seriously suggesting scrapping that monstrosity.

The tax code.

You could fit in a small bathroom the number of human beings who have read it from beginning to end and who understand.

Isn't that a step in the right direction Larry whichever one of them becomes president and whatever tax laws we end up with at least we're going to have.

Probably a grand national debate on of all things the role of the IRS.

In our lives.

Absolutely but look what we are right now the ride the Tea Party the fact that.

The congressman you had on just now.

We -- a serious debate about the debt ceiling in in in years past judge they automatically gets went up so we've gone a long way because of Obama Obama has over reached he's taxi stand he's regulated and there's been a reaction by the American people so what you're right we're having a conversation we never had before it's a good thing but it's a good thing because of a reaction to what Obama has been doing for the first.

Two and a half years of administration.

Do you think that Rick Perry's flat tax proposal will let him break away from the pack.

Or do you think that these numbers are gonna stay pretty much where they have -- for the past couple of weeks.

Unfortunately more people have seen the debate then we'll have watched every Perry give -- press conference just now.

On his flat tax or we'll have read about it the fact if people are beginning to have an opinion about him -- that if He doesn't do well in debates.

But the bad thing is judge why do we.

-- the president based on how well He or she doesn't a debate the first place president gonna have plenty of advisors play a time to think and shield and figure out what He achieved gonna do going forward.

But the bottom line is that the way we are -- -- in our media driven world today and Rick Perry did not do a very good job defending.

-- DREAM Act or are his executive order for the vaccination He got hammered he's trying to recover I think it will be too little too late right.

Are you surprised that Mitt Romney even though in some of those polls Herman Cain.

Have exceeded and still appears to be holding on to 25 plus percent.

And it is giving the appearance of being the inevitable nominee I mean here's a guy when He was governor of Massachusetts raise taxes when -- governor of Massachusetts it wasn't.

Favor of abortion when He was governor messages He supported the federal -- -- -- supported debt are.

Which are retrospect was a disaster one of George Bush's greatest mistakes happen the conservative base that votes of Republican primaries.

Nominate the originators -- of -- care.

Mitt Romney.

To be the standard there.

It's a problem at its why Ronnie doesn't have a lot of enthusiasm Ronald Reagan was embrace them enthusiastically supported by the base.

Bit bit -- doesn't have that the question is if -- better than Obama and remember what we met -- to say I want the most conservative guy who can win to get the nomination it looks like Rick Perry is that guy unfortunately -- for for a lot of people who think the way you and I think.

He did do -- Romney care and that was the the platform on which obamacare was -- -- -- -- the real big problem and his saying that well if the state solution to -- State problem is -- to me that I would suggest the -- do if the real problem because it does have a mandate I think it mandated bad at the state level or federal level assault.

I got a real problem with him but as between him and Obama I can get -- a good head of enthusiasm for a for Romney over Obama judge.

No problem Larry Elder it's a pleasure thank you for joining us from.

My pleasure.
