There's a certain magic about baseball it really can't be quantified.

Despite the fact that it's a game of millions stats and numbers a man who felt.

-- with that magic -- my friend Peter Guber who's actually bought some minor league teams he's here to talk about money ball is a movie out this weekend.

About the attempts by a baseball owner general manager to remove.

Some of the magic of base -- -- replace it with science and seems like you had some success at least for a while.

Peter thank you for -- good to see yet.

This the perfect storm government go ahead yeah okay now Billy Billy Billy dean is -- -- retired he's the Oakland the GM the general manager and He came up with this actually wasn't his theory it was Kelly -- -- -- James is a wonder really discovered it.

But this theory of quantifying.

Baseball and -- this is statistics.

And and hiring people and formulating your your policies on the basis of that size can it be done.

Well it's certainly part of the equation -- had some great success -- deep Modesto whether we did with the geek on the line He was the DG daily so to speak of providing those numbers I'm looking events and take it away from seat of the pants.

To intellectual contents.

Two -- then combining get more recently with a real thinking so I think it was a really interesting strategy and it worked but now everybody's doing it in every sport.

So -- -- nobody has a competitive edge now.

No competitive edge up but there was a holy Grail for a while and still today.

You have all kinds of analytics and metrics that make up draft day that make up the decision to -- -- player that make up the decision whether to change your roster.

All of those things in every sport is part of the process every GM every team had every Coach.

All of them a couple of familiar even -- players of familiar with that because that some of these players -- that -- as well they ultimately go after those stats to approve the imposition.

You know it's even you know -- by the right now you -- what about five or six minor league teams.

Well I owned I know that one time eight -- -- 706 or seven OK on the Dodgers AAA team and the Yankees AAA -- but also and the owner of.

And NBA franchise and about a professional hockey team it's bad everywhere it's not just -- But this movie is more than just that about analytics and baseball it's a really magical film and if it can work it may really work.

While the magic that's that's the thing.

When you when you boil the magic of baseball that I'm unlike other sports I think -- any other sport.

Baseball does have this magic that you couldn't have all the -- you can have all of the numbers on your side.

And still have a surprising loss her surprising when.

Based on a certain magic of that moment does this movie encapsulated -- -- like that somewhere.

What you know books Michael low -- -- we look at the perfect storm and this really honestly.

Think about the three office in the holy Grail that made this story the script work.

When you think of Aaron Sorkin -- alien Michael Lewis to go over liars spoke of the blind side to a few good men the social network.

These folks have the magic themselves that didn't craft a script and have crafted script that has that gravitas that intellectual and emotional curiosity -- audience will respond to sports films that never got the launch they don't travel well they're not temples -- franchised.

And in our company made the biggest all -- grossing picture of all time a woman is baseball picture -- of our own so they break the rules when they work.

Right right by -- by the way is the natural let that movie is just that really really gets the magic debased by got to ask you very quickly may not be able -- but NBA.

I'm I understand that some of the players are getting together and working to train themselves that's got to be a good thing despite the the effect of the -- right.

Well I really can't comment on really you know trapped -- lock jawed on that subject -- an owner.

But you know I'm keeping my fingers crossed all the time.

Let's hope it has with that so we do have a season after all is Peter -- great to see again have a good weekend through.
