Right now the first of two CEOs that we have on in this hour to and you know talk about how they're managing.
They're company -- are uncertain times of course and David -- -- -- CEO -- -- -- Weight Watchers international new study showing Weight Watchers twice as effective standard care.
Treating the obesity overweight C must be doing something right there about.
That's pretty good study for you guys.
There was an important study because for us we're really demonstrated is that when you have a doctor working in partnership.
With Weight Watchers -- there's nobody who's better situated to create a sense of urgency for someone to address an issue with obesity.
As as a doctor.
-- more prisons ideally suited to provide education behavior change those two things -- him to work extremely well in and that's really what the studies show.
How much progress are we really making treating.
Obesity mean the numbers are still staggering a billion people overweight around the world and 300 million obese is what I saw from the World Health Organization so.
This to us you know we look at is this an economic issue it is and what we have to treated as such but it's we're making progress.
Not merely to the extent that we should I mean world -- million miles away from where we need to be and I do believe that this is a solvable epidemic but -- -- point.
You know they just came -- to you on just about this week and so by the year 2030 I believe it's 47 trillion dollars in the treatment of non communicable disease.
Including the impact of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Chronic disease as a function significantly a lifestyle such as obesity.
There's so much more than needs to be done because if we don't we're never gonna contain health cost.
When more needs to be done does that mean more government money needs to be spent -- we need to find more creative solutions to over talking to CEOs -- and another C on a different business and a little while.
About how you manage your company's these times that things -- -- volatile in the and the economy's been weak.
What about in -- on this issue we have to spend more money.
I don't know I don't know I would characterize it that way but I I think -- you think of obesity is a health issue.
In this country in most countries we spent almost zero dollars on preventive care we would rather wait until you become diabetic -- entry super expensive and -- -- prevent you from from from becoming diabetic in the first place.
So part of it is more of an allocation of resources.
Earlier in the process.
What we're not waiting for the government to step and we think there's partnerships that we can create today where of people on the helped -- world doctors insurance companies folks like that.
Our ideal future state is patient -- doctor patient is obese the -- said this is a health problem hammering your prescription.
It's covered by your insurance company right -- the races that doesn't happen today but that's what should be have.
But what about in your business then everybody thinks all well -- you're going to be using Weight Watchers somebody's very very overweight or even obese.
Should you or or -- trying to attract people earlier in the process where there are just slightly overweight or maybe not even overweight at all and still should be using.
Or or or following those types of diets and.
Most folks when they come to us have gotten to a point where there are clinically obese with they're in some overweight but you know BMI thirty plus is the official caught off -- based on health Microsoft walks.
So that is usually when people have a sense of urgency that's also most -- -- when doctors are going to be talking to you about the fact that this is a health issue.
So that is now what we'd rather do was -- as you become obese.
Hope -- address act quickly so that you don't become pre diabetic then diabetic so on and so forth some giving you earlier in the process where we can hopefully nip it in the bud in bins I hope you.
-- -- -- -- Healthier habits of costs settlement costs billions of dollars.
And children's these things dividends and hundreds going to dollars aren't done date -- up thank you very much thank you from Weight Watchers joining us it today and.
