By 66.

Billion dollars.

Joining us now to talk about that's.

Growing obesity epidemic in this country managing editor for Fox News health dot com Dr.

Manny Alvarez Dr.

-- -- tell me all the numbers you -- but how do you stop people.

However they want.

I think this is an epidemiological analysis I yes we we do have a hundred million Americans that are overweight.

And but this is a prediction that another 65 million Americans may be overweight and therefore this is gonna add.

66 billion dollars to the bottom line which is an increase of 2.5 percent of the total bill of health care.

But it may not happen and at the end of the day -- There's a lot of things that that people are becoming aware look of people are aren't changing in the last may be five deck in the last decade or so people are becoming more aware.

That that that lifestyles that we have with the fast food and that cooking at home and portion control is now becoming important.

And I think that it's very you know this is to me.

You you could talk about it that I don't want to use utilizes as a scare tactic.

To have the federal government come down and stop controlling.

The whole thing I get it I mean you could spend the story anywhere to anywhere you want but do you see evidence that we're changing.

Of course we are changing look and even yesterday the new guys report of the fast food restaurants number one.

Used to be mcdonalds now announced subway wise subway because that.

This healthier choices school systems are changing now they're not getting old at the cupcakes so things are changing in the last five or six years so I don't think again yes we do have an overweight problem I'm mobile wait I get it.

I don't acknowledge come in that's the camera that they do -- -- -- and five bucks to make it look better but but but at the bottom line is I don't wanna utilized these numbers to say I.

-- you know no more commercials no more -- is regulate the food industry because you know what we.

This is the wrong time to start you I'm not all I hate over regulate you.

But you just pull back the curtain because that's really what it's all.

You don't you have two options either people who are obese.

Have to pay for the additional health care cost that they might in car rather than put them on the system.

Or you're asking for govern there organization.

-- is that one could argue you know a again people that don't assume responsibility but.

You know if you read this report they're comparing the food industry to the -- industry to the cigarette makers.

That and it's not a fair comparison and that's exactly my point you -- would -- we cannot.

And vilified the food industry that fast just because we have a hundred -- and a hundred million Americans.

That are overweight let's not -- shall -- so fast to do that and you know again this is talking about 2030.

You know what chill out first let's fix our economy cut back and regulation people are getting the message and I think the Americans know what to do -- -- -- -- -- boy am I feisty it's more we all worked.

I have a came out of left a lot like it okay good and you look good I stand by yeah thank you -- -- I think I.
