Hands -- right.

Each of the jobs -- gonna -- a major jobs address next week with his own prescription for fixing the problem.

Liberals are getting a lot of pressure go -- -- go home -- have stimulus 2.0 oh work.

Maybe not what is your crystal ball tell -- tell you that a big -- or a little one.

Well we should be clear about what this speech will be this is a campaign speech it's not a jobs between the president here isn't proposing something He thinks is likely to get through congress what he's doing I think it's trying to set up an argument to be setting up an argument for the 2012 campaign.

I think he's going to propose some stimulus -- some more additional government spending.

But he's also probably going to come out with some aggressive proposal that will put house Republicans senate Republicans on the spot.

Making them look unreasonable if they reject it and who knows what form that could could take I suspect it might be something that He -- from a plan.

That Republicans want push whether it's lowering marginally income tax rates for the middle class but it's additional kind of middle.

-- you -- master at doing that is at the same kind of strategy.

Yeah I mean look he's he's actually -- the -- -- think about the strategy He said it on the campaign trail when He was out on his rural rural swing.

In the midwest a couple weeks ago He said look I'm gonna make this proposal to congress if they reject it.

I'm gonna call them -- do nothing congress the campaign had to 2012 and that's in effect what He said I expect and actually do it.

-- I want to talk about Alan Krueger for a second here is not just another pretty face He was hit we're -- the guy.

That people know as and ardent and intelligent.

Economist.

Note we'd love to have him on the show but.

Lots of criticism as well because a lot of his prescriptions for change tend to involve government spending no cash for clunkers that He was very involved -- Here's the president talking about what He hopes to get done with Krueger -- they economics -- Now even as we deal with this crisis of the moment.

Our great ongoing challenges nation remains.

How to get this economy growing faster -- are urgent mission.

And that's what I'm fighting for every single day.

That's why today I'm very pleased to nominate Alan Krueger to chair of the council of economic advisors.

So I think that's a big shock.

Came -- had any impact.

Well it is a big job and I think as you suggest you the political environment is such that it if you were to try to implement the kinds of things that he's written about his academic life.

He would unlikely I mean he'd be unlikely to see many of the past because He does believe in such an activist role for governments such tremendous amount of spending to stimulate the economy.

It's -- like they -- that we're gonna see anything like that actually come out of congress.

But I think it's it's unlikely that they can -- too much of that just because.

Even Democrats are sensitive to the perception I think shared by many voters that government is spending too much of trying to do too -- -- and and of course congressional approval ratings White House approval everybody's approval ratings are in the tank right now.

One person who has been affected as a campaign or Michelle Bachmann and she's being hammered for something she said this week listen to Michelle Bachmann.

Washington DC you'd think by now they get the message and -- -- -- -- -- Okay you.

Everything they possibly can now I'm very active -- we're getting in.

She said she was -- that it was a joke and I personally think she's.

Should she just gets -- she cannot put up that right with the media they're always looking for something that.

To trip -- up on what do you make of that.

Yeah I mean she was laughing the audience laughed in response a couple different times the audience clapped responses is very clear to me that she was joking but.

There -- certain politicians certain elected officials almost all of them conservatives who are.

Who who the media like to -- we saw this again with with Dick Cheney you know before his book actually came out.

He had this comment that heads were going to explode all over Washington when when the book actually came out all those of us who know one minute spent time with him understood that.

He had almost certainly said that with tongue in -- -- with a smile.

And that wasn't the way that the quote was rendered and that's the way that Washington DC journalists -- and with the Dick Cheney comments and of course then we saw the footage and He was month.

He was getting citing people are trying to make something out of nothing it was a joke I don't think anybody was offended by the joke I don't think it's very important and you know it's.

She's right and cut the overarching point Washington DC should be less -- Yeah I amen to that well -- thanks for coming on today got to come back and that any time and those numbers to you see you can see them in detail I like it.
