We're gonna turn first to the economy presidential politics a lot of developments today our next guest focused on making President Obama a one term president.

We're joined now by they have Republican his rights -- -- chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Writes -- -- to have you here you've got to be feeling.

Pretty good right now you've got more competitive candidates according to the latest Gallup poll.

A four candidates competitive with this president two of them one of them.

Are tying in the other our governor Mitt Romney actually beating the president.

Well you know we feel really great about where rat in this election Lou and by the way thanks for having me on -- -- an -- to be on your show I've listen if for years and on the radio and now I'm.

I'm Fox Business but you're right I -- I feel good about it because.

Obviously Americans across this country.

Are saying that number one they're not better off than they were two or three years ago.

They want to see our country actually get serious about her debt and our deficit and jobs in this country this president is a whistling past the graveyard is not serious about these issues and now.

I have the responsibility and the Republican National Committee has a responsibility.

To present to the American people an intelligent.

Viable articulate conservative.

That can lead this country fiscally.

And get us out of this ditch and I think that's what we need to do in this country.

And Jon Huntsman.

Says that the Republican Party is bereft of ideas.

-- your reaction.

Well you know you know I've -- it -- to evaluating each of these these these candidates but here's the deal.

Whether it be Jon Huntsman Mitt Romney Rick Perry Michelle Bachmann Herman -- Ron Paul Mena at that -- list goes your time.

If you whoever worth testing.

Americans are prepared.

I think to give Republicans an opportunity.

To get -- fiscal house in order and I think.

-- the polling shows that I mean whoever we put up against Barack Obama.

Either they're in a margin of error there ahead of Barack Obama or there within striking distance and what that means is.

Is that Americans are not buying into this Barack Obama agenda of giving speeches and press conferences but not following through with any of his -- It's hit his poll numbers.

To be kind -- signing.

-- -- at or near record lows for his administration.

Meanwhile -- put together a field of candidates.

-- they have a civil themselves or properly.

That is impressive and in this -- in their demeanor.

The debates have been going very well for the candidates.

It yet Charlie Cook.

-- points out.

That this is still a generic Republican as far as he's concerned beating Barack Obama and that the real test the real difficulty and challenge.

Arises when my name and face -- personality.

Are attached to that that candidacy with your party's nomination.

Your reaction to that.

What well I.

You know I think that when you do put a name on the ballot next to Barack Obama you're seeing a polling that we're doing very well but let's take Charlie cook's.

Viewpoint for a second just -- to entertain a question.

I think that just that's where you start I think when you evaluate whether united we can make Barack Obama one term presidency of our country economically.

And when you start there and when generic Republican beats.

This president that's the terrible place for an incumbent president to be you know I'm you know I'm from Wisconsin.

I was the chairman of there before became chairman of the RNC.

We stop -- a year and a half file and Russ Feingold who no one thought we were actually going to be him that showed the same thing.

That this generic Republican.

Beating.

Senator Russ Feingold back a year and a half ahead of time and we knew right there from that polling -- That we were going to be able to -- Russ Feingold and that's the same thing you're seeing here so we've got a long way to go but I happen I think a broad field a lot of voices a lot of Republicans out there talking about how we can fix America.

And actually do something instead of talking about in giving speeches across America.

Is the best way to save our country economically.

And -- -- the better -- previous good to have you with this -- we appreciate.
