-- David fast minute to minute developments on Capitol Hill today is the debt ceiling vote could be happening just minutes from now.
On number of -- party organizations.
-- to punish those who vote yes.
Particularly punishing certain Republicans who vote yes -- speaker John Boehner is debt proposal.
One of those on the your list is Republican congressman Alan west of Florida was said.
He will vote for the better plan and now you've got representative Wes thanks for joining us on a busy day -- you got these Tea Party groups it's a were gonna go after you for voting for this what do you say that the Tea Party groups.
Well what I say is that I have to sit down and -- a really clear objective assessment of where we stand.
-- we've had a naked debt ceiling broke up voted no -- that to be raised but I think of right now I have several things have to consider.
I have to consider any type of default on our on our debt obligations I don't want to see any -- increase on interest rates but also have to be responsible and look for what type of cuts and also us in the control -- we -- get put in place.
And I still see that in the -- -- is at a 100%.
Perfect bill absolutely not.
But I think it is the seventy to 75% solution that I can get behind as we go forward and if I vote no on the bank of real -- who am I voting for.
And I'm definitely not going to be voted for Nancy Pelosi Harry Reid for the president in the sense.
But congressman you have to admit that they did Tea Party had very important role in getting congressman Boehner to change.
The -- to put in the provisions for the balanced budget amendment know.
Well that's true but that is also something that I was talking to John -- about.
Back on late Monday and Tuesday.
House speaker through the -- -- about that was something that -- have to be very important to be a part of this we were gonna have a separate vote on balanced budget amendment.
Following the vote on his bill.
But now that we -- included that's just -- -- so I think that those six and a half -- all the others it's a package that I can live with.
And I guess there are some people that want to have everything perfectly their way.
But does sometimes you don't get that especially when you're existing in an environment where you only have -- control loved ones that are on the one half of 13 of the government.
Well that's a very important thing you just said plus what you said previously where you said you're 75%.
For it that's called compromise don't think that most Americans.
Understand.
That you're not going to love everything about this but that.
You do want to avoid the very things you talked about.
A defaults or downgrades which may be unavoidable at this point representative but but look at this what's wrong with -- -- in Washington is not how things get done.
Well -- -- -- get done but the thing is -- not compromise my principles.
Do I like this joint congressional committee absolutely not.
When I go back and look at what we have been able to achieve.
You're not seeing any type of tax hikes you're not seeing the president get a complete raising of the debt live about 2.4 trillion.
And not have to contend with that in the presidential election cycle.
And the other thing is that for the first time in history United States of America.
We are raising the debt limit while we're also having equal or higher spending cuts so it takes -- miles to turn around and aircraft carrier.
We're at the Helm and we're starting that most.
All right so -- -- congressman spell out force what's gonna happen now we know that the senate is gonna turn this down.
Harry Reid's gonna come out what his planned whatever it is it's been.
-- in secrecy of course the president won't specify what his plan is either what are you in the end it's likely to vote on.
Well this is one on in the unlikely opponents the Bank of Israel as well we sent over the cut its target -- assays are gonna pass in the senate yeah.
Well this is what we have to start doing David when -- we going to hold the feet of the senate responsible.
We have a senate that an 820 days is not pass a budget all Lockheed here it is about what they're not going to do so I don't even know what they're showing up for work.
As you just heard this and I came to the table of -- 75% solution so what are they gonna do over there and we already know that they're re release does not have a plant.
And what He did -- -- by the CBO.
There's about one point six trillion dollars of budget gimmicks and enough phantom savings as well it cuts are defense -- a 180 billion dollars.
And have a surged 22 years united states military.
My friends men and women were still servant already suffering -- the -- 400 some -- billion dollar budget cuts we've made so his plan is a nonstarter for me.
All the Secretary Gates and say there's definitely room to cut the waste in defense congressman we know you're busy thank you for jumping in front of our cameras we truly appreciate -- colonel thanks -- that.
Thank you day.
