-- congressman Tim Scott -- South Carolina believes it's crazy he says that President Obama were to try such a move it would be an impeachable act.

He outlined his position at a recent event in Charleston.

Quality and that really fell.

There -- that we.

What -- the good -- president looking forward to you -- congressional.

Oversight.

Our ability to do that without.

My business that is and -- flat.

Joining us now from Washington congressman Tim Scott congressman good to have you here.

Thank you -- to -- -- -- obviously we need to talk about a lot of very big issues but first on the on your statement that it would be an impeachable act.

By President Obama were you were -- to follow president Clinton's advice.

It used do you still feel the same mark.

Yet net nothing exchanges of question we read the constitution article one section -- it is very clear.

That congress and only had congress has the authority to borrow money on behalf of the United States the president simply does not have that authority.

So we're trying to do not -- it's terrible porn business but to be clear and beyond -- the president needs to stay at the bargaining deaths.

With Republicans and Democrats and -- the house and the senate that is the only way for the debt ceiling increase can be done and to be constitutionally consistent.

Well let's turn to the hard way to do it if you're not gonna violate the constitution and that is just.

-- -- move on the gang of six move on McConnell Reid move on.

Cut -- and balance.

Now we've got a president tying to us congressman Scott that.

He's growing just after last week saying he -- he's willing to.

Take a short term approach if it's and I long term context.

Well Lou I'll tell you this that there's no question that cut -- and balance of already changed the way that we're operating.

On this debt suing the president is -- talking about a short term deal.

Because the house solidified itself the Republican conference and a bipartisan approach having 234.

Now the gang up to 34 -- the group of six the beginning at 234.

Voting consistent with cut -- and balanced and listening to the American people it puts the American people.

On the offense and that is why I believe the president is now talking about a short term deal together more time to look -- bigger deal.

Well -- talking with John Barrasso.

And balance in the senate.

You know he is.

He is.

Hesitant.

To say that it's can can pass the senate.

-- where it's obviously gonna face some considerable opposition particularly this president saying he's in favor of the gang of six proposal.

Which is.

And frankly nothing more than an executive summary of some very big concepts.

And are the -- -- McConnell Reid proposal what is your assessment.

I'll say that we look at the three opportunism table.

The McConnell plan to me is nothing more than -- abdication of responsibility.

And playing politics at a time we need serious leadership.

McConnell plan that -- -- plan doesn't get it done the gang of six once again if you said it is the proposal.

It's not a -- -- a proposal and there's no one who's read it because there's nothing bin send out to read we cannot afford to paths that.

So that we know what's in it that is a terrible approach to did not work with -- -- -- -- It will not work with this plan either so finally there -- one piece of legislation with -- have been passed and that has cut -- -- balance it doesn't the president wants which is a 2.4.

Trillion dollar increase in the debt ceiling and it doesn't the American people want which is provides a balanced budget amendment.

The goes to the states and we let the people decide.

We are in a situation where the people of this nation are standing up and saying listen to me.

Get your fiscal house in order that's not a Republican led our Democrat line as with the American people are saying and we should listen loud and they are clear.

And the very latest polls today showing that the American people are absolutely disgusted with the way the federal government.

Is operating right now and dealing with this issue.

Congressman -- Scott and by the way that's both parties that's both houses of congress and I absolutely.

Congressman Tim Scott -- to be to be here good to talk with regular up now.
