In honor of Independence Day I'd like you to meet Orlando and Samantha Peres both sergeants in the Marine Corps.

She's stationed stateside he's in Afghanistan serving his third deployment.

They told me how they keep their finances in order while living a world apart keeping us safe.

Orlando -- Samantha haven't seen each other her five months -- we're bringing them together today to talk about family finances and the military.

-- and I want to start with you.

So how do you manage the family finances when your husband is deployed thousands of miles away and your home with -- yet.

Well we actually were required to have a -- -- cell if you don't have a joint account with your spouse.

That way we're able to go ahead and in -- any emergencies go ahead in.

Take care what actions that that might be coming up so I understand the -- keep your finances separate Orlando to you.

I consider all of your pay goes into savings that you guys are really socking it away trying to do the right thing put some money away.

Yes that's correct and dad because.

Go ahead just as the -- as transparent as future of this.

I -- -- -- that's great most people don't do that they don't say they don't set money aside it's good to see that you're doing that now and keep your finances completely separate.

-- why do you do that.

Well that way it's not like believe that extra money let's go have fun with it or anything like that as more of and this is good to go we have money safer.

-- future house child care.

Any emergencies that may come up I mean.

Same thing happen any day.

And that's -- the reason why we keep it separated just.

This is his mind the -- and this is the sense of ownership.

One last set to take.

In case any.

Any issues me it -- -- -- -- -- -- does -- make it easier but I I can't imagine that now you're also running the family finances on your -- your running household on your own.

Obviously -- your -- all the time.

But what's that like -- being a mom and working all the time.

Well in my book on the super mom also.

It's challenging but.

I would say it's small stuff that's -- being deployed and him going away for training.

The hardest things are you know going -- -- care of everything by yourself with kids.

For instance if I had -- myself.

You know I can't find daycare.

Some late to sit the kids overnight.

Financially that could run -- -- -- dollar you know.

That's pretty much the hard -- the smallest things that it would probably take.

One and -- military remembered that married.

Not until military.

It colleague be -- -- for them because they don't have to worry about that.

You know they don't area worry about exactly you know alliance with the taken my kids overnight.

I did so.

That's actually the hardest part.

What Orlando do you you've got the really hard job here obviously we appreciate your service I -- make sure said that thank you so much for what you do for us every single day.

But I wouldn't talk to about one of the ways we got to this segment because I know people in the military get targeted all the time by ski hammers.

It it's a -- really because if people set up shop right next to military bases all over the world at.

Pound them by telephone.

You name -- have you seen that have you been the target yourself.

Well first of just think there's support and that yes we still aren't -- -- and they've been.

And one thing we do know about that.

These -- the base commander go there there's uses -- commerce.

A tragic period but it is that by a lot of -- -- -- Because -- -- by any plane.

Everything right by law.

So their.

Literally they are -- -- side but what they end up doing is is bad news.

Cindy Anthony now -- I know that you had I think your credit cards stolen -- your identity.

How that happened would you do well it was just says.

This is me are you on the daily -- is military -- -- there's just a simple purchased through Amazon for instance and they went ahead and tell my credit card information first the whole new -- case that iPod you name it.

But the -- let's begin to go they help us out.

Everything back but this is one thing they don't want to happen you know.

What I suggested -- Marines are any military member.

That's -- that the plane may change if finances straight you know -- there's thousands of something not everybody like to talk about.

Just their fact in -- who want to talk about money on time.

Well yeah.

And -- you -- have.

Members of our military being victims of scanners is is like a double insult I think.

You have one good tip -- you you say that people in the military should not shop close the base that that she go -- further because the worst folks are right next door right.

Because we are easy target.

They station their company is right around their base because they know we come in and out.

They know we have new -- new military members.

We have.

Just new guys handles fresh meat to go after because they know they got a good stable -- done now the go ahead and sign anything so let's go after these guys.

I -- -- absolutely right I think it's really scary for folks out there thanks for coming on Samantha Orlando thanks to you -- I'd really appreciate.

Your apps for your service for our country.

As Samantha to -- -- well thank you thank you for having every movement into each other it's fantastic are right thanks so much guys really appreciate your time no phone.
