And congressman Randy knew the -- Texas.

Well congressman great to CEO Jerry going to be on the program McGinn would you I have to ask about Blagojevich that I just mentioned at 90 you have opinions on what it means more broadly.

Well I think a lot of people thought he was gonna get off Scott free but I think -- jury we'll looked the evidence -- said you know what that's unacceptable and you know they spoke in so I think one of the things that that school on the country right now people are kind of tired of the way get.

Some of the people in political often been behaving and I think this is another example of that.

-- -- warning sign for anybody out there is got their finger at Mattel.

We're talking about the debt limit that's certainly the big news out of Washington today at the present really taking on the negotiations here.

Would that -- two weeks that the congress is gonna be in business to act on any of that's a much reacted to something Mitch McConnell said on the month as sunny morning shows.

Listen to Mitch McConnell.

I think we've gotten to a point where we ought to put aside our talking points and get down to what can actually -- as I was just.

Trying to point out to you -- the whole business of raising taxes regardless of how you go about it.

There's something that this congress is not likely to do.

Well spending problem I know Republicans are on message about that but they sure don't seem to be talking about compromise.

Well I think jury what we've been talking about is we do have a spending problem we don't have an income problem.

And you know one of the things that you mention is the president's been absent from this debate from the very beginning he set a budget over the nation is what we call will Mulligan budget over because the first it was a spending and borrowing by the budget.

And then bit that you -- beneath the senate budget over and it was defeated in the house and in and more importantly you know it was voted down 97 to zero in the senate.

And the president has not wanted to put his fingerprints on any of these to discussions because these are tough decisions these are tough these are tough times and to -- fix this budget really tough decisions and tough.

Solutions are gonna have to be reaction of the presence in the campaigning mode and he's decided to.

But unfortunately he realizes that vice president was not able to have to make any progress in this -- gonna step up and hopefully -- -- There are rumblings out today that -- the president was -- some tax -- -- -- -- -- I think it's a non starter -- in the house particularly with Republicans because we we we are on message -- -- because it's message that because it's the truth I haven't met anybody that thinks that the government doesn't attacks -- but I have a lot of -- a lot of Americans that.

I think that the congress spends too much money in and so we're gonna have to address said he she.

The thing that confounds me if I don't understand why it's taken a present so long to come to the table you mentioned the budget he brought forced the Mulligan budget you call that it was.

Through largely ignored not really paid attention to why -- the president announced.

Well because these are going to be tough to their conclusions are gonna have to come to jury and so obviously if you -- he's trying to run for reelection and when you start talking about -- As some of the entitlement programs when you start talking about you know having to make some fairly major cuts in some areas of government that that have been.

Kind of the linchpin for the that would of our current democratic policy party it's it's going to be tough and the president doesn't want to.

To have to address those but he's the president United States and he needs to be at the table.

-- I mean that that I want to show you a poll results of the poll folks -- the debt ceiling be raised no 41%.

Yes 38% look.

I think it -- split them.

I was right okay no 41% yes 38%.

-- people -- close together I mean there's no clear response really that's with the than at the margin of bear what do you make of that.

Well it's it's basically a third a third a third and the other part of it -- is a third of the people just don't know what to do you -- -- -- with consumer and people are very concerned about the future of this country.

In the hearing a lot of rhetoric about if we do if we don't but what and one thing's very clear if you asked them do we need to do something to move this country and it -- better direction.

Start creating jobs and reduce the in the deficit everybody is united behind that everybody has a different opinion on how to get there.

But by and large I think when you ask people that did these very concerned about the direction of the country and how's the best way for us to get there.

Well and I guess we'll be debating that for sometime to -- and certainly intensively over the next few weeks.

Congressman thanks for coming on the show appreciate.
